Artwork Notes:
“In these hard economic times, many people find themselves lost. When I took this photograph, I was inspired by the beauty of the sun pouring through the buildings juxtaposed to the rubble, and finding the beauty and balance between the two. Within that, I feel that this is where we are: always finding the balance between the beauty and the rubble. Finding this balance is what makes you alive. You have to learn to find hope within the rubble. When Izzy asked me to think about the song and its meaning and how to perceive it, I instantly thought of this moment when I photographed this site. We chose to change the hue and color of the sun in order to change the feel of the image and to perhaps illuminate positivity and action. We also found inspiration in the famous Oscar Wilde quote, because no matter how bad it gets, we can always look up to the stars for inspiration and truth.”

Song Notes:
This track was originally sampled and produced by HBrooks, one of many in his huge library of amazing instrumentals and songs. HBrooks has been making music for more than 5 years now, and as soon as I met him, connected through Stephanie Kay, our music psyche and chi melded almost immediately. This dude’s home setup is legit, and I being to ape it in order to make my music sound fuller, richer, realer. When he came to visit my studio in Queens, he smiled at the “mini HBrooks studio” I had setup, as his techniques immediately taught me how to make professional sounding music. After listening and vibing out to this track, he invited me to expand on it. Noticing a chance to impact his music the way he impacted mine, I jumped at it and what you hear is the outcome. His raw drum patterns and use of sample became the backbone with which I built flesh out of melodies and harmonies. D Hype also felt compelled to add some drum flourishes of his own, and in turn gave the beat much flavor, not unlike a stew or a gumbo. We felt a very serious tone to this song during the writing process, and with the current financial situation of America and the people taking action through the various “Occupy _____” spanning cross-country, we felt the need to make a song relevant about these issues. We all know what it’s like to be poor and what it’s like to work hard for scraps; we also know what it’s like for people to complain and never work for what they deserve. Our wish is to bring light to positivity and hope throughout the struggles we all face on the daily.

lyrics

Let me
Take you from the pain
I know it hurts
I say
We can let it fly for a minute
Let me be the one to show you
That I
Care for you
Hold me up, up and away.

(Hbrooks)
It's called the home of the free
Same time I love this I hate this
Cuz they trying to keep us in the matrix
I ain't the one don't fall for the propaganda
I call it truth
They call it slander
And I know the standards of life ain't equal
So this one’s for my people
Feeling like bars is the best way to reach you
Not only can't I talk that ish I can lead you
We still at the bottom reaching up trying to grasp
There's a timer on faith let's see how long it last
That's why we switch to the hustle the money come fast
Meanwhile dodging them boys and working out a stash
And I look like you so they checking me for priors
Outside looking in feels like a scene from the wire they aiming at your head
I'm just aiming to inspire
I guess cuz I'm flyer
I think a little higher

Let me
Take you from the pain
I know it hurts
I say
We can let it fly for a minute
Let me be the one to show you
That I
Care for you
Hold me up, up and away.

(Hype)
Of course you gonna blame the system that made you
Every mistake you made brought you back like a lame screw
Every quarter you played they were stealing the first two
So you stash them away
Ever since I knew it I pay no mind to today
I guess I kinda had a feeling
If I didn’t keep moving keep breathing,
I might never get past
Or break the glass ceiling
Herb cloud chilling
Call it spiritual healing
Double helix the realest
Is patterned in my nature
Truth since the day I was born
But still they hate you
Straight no chase always hard to relate to
The other side of the fence was Eden
So I make sure
Heaven Is Mine Before I Take Yours
One particular door could lead me to the Lord
Fear I cannot afford strength I walk toward

Let me
Take you from the pain
I know it hurts
I say
We can let it fly for a minute
Let me be the one to show you
That I
Care for you
Hold me up, up and away.

(Izzy)
The economy is falling
The politician is calling
They dropping the ball
Every time we need them
But that’s not all
We losing money the way we handling stocks
The streets is lost at the cost of amethyst rock
Sever the ties, we set for heaven demise
Imbedded into the mind
We only wanted the prize
We need to ask for help
We say we soldiers for God
In turn we just as selfish as the devil himself
Even Satan be waiting down at the bottom of the bottle
Ought to throttle his hold oh no there goes my duodenum
Stop trying to get high and come back to earth
We flirt with death no surprise
We breathe dirt
Let me be the one to show you
That I
Care for you
Hold me up, up and away

Let me
Take you from the pain
I know it hurts
I say
We can let it fly for a minute
Let me be the one to show you
That I
Care for you
Hold me up, up and away.
