Artwork Notes:
“Only At The Top is about finding your own personal “top” and creating your path to get there. Conceptually I thought about outer space and the galaxy and how it invokes the idea that the possibilities are endless. We’ve only skimmed the surface of what’s out there, just as much as we’ve only skimmed the surface of the potential within ourselves.”

Song Notes:
Only At The Top was conceived in the Spring of 2009 during the same time I began working on “Without Air”, hence the similarity in instrumental feel and 808 drops. However, as “Air” took a form of despair and overcoming weakness, “Top” is an anthem of those who hold power, who worked hard to get to where they are, and to those that have reached their personal peaks and precipices. Originally this track was designed for a collaboration album between me and Jimmy, but after meeting J Scott during the HYZY/ I&I meetings with D Hype and Marvil, I was completely intrigued by his creative spark, his powerful voice, and his energetic flow. J Scott’s probably one of the most animated rappers I’ve seen and I’ve only seen him spit in my little home studio. Jimmytheloch, ranked 14 slam poet in the nation at one point, now a major contender on Grind Time Rap Battles, was also a huge asset to this track. Jimmy’s voice, flow, and creativity is always a topic of conversation; once you listen to him go hard on a track, you’ll just get hungry for more. I wanted to make “Only At The Top” a sort of anthem, a push or drive if you will, to make listeners run farther, work harder, and push themselves to the limit.
lyrics
Only at the top, only at the top
Only at the top, only at the top
Only at the top, only at the top
Only at the top, only at the top
Can we bring the place down?
(Izzy)
Even though this ain’t a self entitled song of survival
My idle hands could never reach heaven through suicide
Do or die,
This music is eternal bliss
I spit, you choke on this
Like Sonya’s winning death in a kiss
For the kill to the max
Sitting back relax
No need to start rapping like it’s a chore
Life is but a Milton Bradley board
I’m the
Synonym for winning
So
Intimate I’m in it
Like the bottom of the inning
When I swing
Batter, batter
Swing I score
We rise high where the birds don’t sing
You flap your feathers whether they be Icarus wings
Dead weight
Cant climb to the top
With a bum back
Take a step
Trip on a thumb tack
Juxtaposed
To the ground
We fall like black and white domino stacks
Every single single starts with a single beat
With the simple hitting of the drum in a symphony
Aint no need to say this but
I’m a bit of Amadeus
A eulogy to rap, a siren lullaby sing the soliloquy
Only at the top, only at the top
Only at the top, only at the top, top
Only at the top, only at the top
Only at the top, only at the top
Can we bring the place down?
We can never stop, we can never stop
We can never stop, we can never stop, stop
We can never stop, we can never stop
The boom bap of the sound
(Jesse)
Numb to the feeling of feeling of ceilings I been growing
My mind over loading, stay humble never stumble
Crumble ideas of failing and Get a feel for this Sarah Palin
My heart mailed in deposit boxes with a proper lock,
All for the game
Cuz there’s no love at the top,
Fumble rock, never, not even, on my worst day,
HYZY, junction production
Let the merch play
Personal days are my work days, I&I
Dedication, marijuana mandated,
For mental elevation
Top position
I am the point of the pyramid
Concerned with no demons cuz why?
I am aware of him,
Prepare a script,
Something Like my will in each verse,
Feet first
How I step in my days until a week work,
She’s hurt, from perks that are attached to my first
Love for the music, my soul measured on the clock,
Tick tock that’s my life on the top
Only at the top, only at the top
Only at the top, only at the top, top
Only at the top, only at the top
Only at the top, only at the top
Can we bring the place down?
We can never stop, we can never stop
We can never stop, we can never stop, stop
We can never stop, we can never stop
The boom bap of the sound
(Jimmytheloch)
Lady liberty apply schemes with her eye makeup
So she might break up with a skyscraper
Hike Mt. Everest I resurrect dead residents
A regimen of medicine ready to rock like pendulums
I’m chip off the old block call me Pentium
Forget the petty crumbs underground like Technodrome
But I’m sick of the bottom the motto bravado
How do we make a common tomorrow?
And scale the Kilimanjaro
On the climb up you might lacerate your blue jeans
If you fall too deep nobody can hear you scream
Now we can't cut scenes these are not movies
So I hawk loogies off of Mount Fuji
I’m an all-star but I’m not a refugee
I only got one ticket but I need two seats
I rep unity not shooting spree eulogies
Only at the top can we knock the wind out and shoot the breeze
Only at the top, only at the top
Only at the top, only at the top, top
Only at the top, only at the top
Only at the top, only at the top
Can we bring the place down?
We can never stop, we can never stop
We can never stop, we can never stop, stop
We can never stop, we can never stop
