Artwork notes:
This photo was taken by Theresa Eaves and edited by me, Izzy Man. I chose to use this photo/art to represent the passing though of distance and how space and time is constantly moving, like water rushing over limbs. I also liked the thought that even as you’re standing still, you’re still in constant motion, like feet in tide water. It poses the question that what is really moving: you, or the water?

Song notes:
This song began about 2 years ago in 2009 in Oneonta with Joseph “Ayinde” Hye. I began the instrumental and Joe helped out with the drum patterns. This would be my first foray into real song writing; for singing and not rapping. At first, Joe and I sang the song completely in autotune because a. we didn’t have a singer at the time, b. we wanted to play around c. it sounded way too cool. After realizing that autotune is but a passing fad and plus we wanted to just stay away from that. I met Hannah since we used to attend the same grade school and re-met at church. A couple meetings here and there and the vocals were set. After a whole year, Ayinde and I revisited our lyrics and re-recorded our verses as our mentalities and flows have grown greatly in such short amounts of time. Also, just as a little gift, my best friend Kayla laced down the illest line “Do you still feel the same?” because she was lucky to be in the room while Joe decided we needed SOMETHING there. And the rest, as they say, is history.

lyrics

(Hannah)
Baby when I kiss you
You make my lips tingle
I was single mingled into my thoughts and you would stay
Cuz when we lock lips, it’s like a flicker a flame

(Izzy)
Let me sit here a bit, and feel your pulse through your finger tips

(Hannah)
I can feel you close
Though you’re so far away
And when I wake up
I think of you everyday
Even the moon, needs the sun to shine
The way my heart needs to know that you’re still mine

I could never measure the affect you have on me in miles

(Izzy)
The way you looking at me
Got me feeling like a child again

(Hannah)
You feel like home to me
Consoling only when you holding me
I’d
Re
Trace
My
Steps
To
To kiss your cheek again
And feel the heat again
In your hands

I can feel you close
Though you’re so far away
And when I wake up
I think of you everyday
Even the moon, needs the sun to shine
The way my heart needs to know that you’re still mine

(Izzy)
When I reach in sleep
All I’m touching is an empty bed sheet
And another cold pillow where my head sleeps
I’m leaving you another silent song, soliloquy
The map on my wall has become the enemy
Reminding me that every inch of the chart
Is another hundred yards that we have been apart
When we Skype
It’s like I see the sun for the first time
You are my first rhyme
Like the first line
You make my heart twitter-patter
I’m mad, you leaving patterns
Tatter me into a panic, I’ve had it with this
The only way to feel close
Is to be gone, and
It ain’t like you’ll be here
When the song ends
I’ll write the words that you leave on my cheek
Your lips says more without having to speak
Your eyes read mine without having to say
I feel you close though you’re so far away.

(Ayinde)
I had a dream last night, and you were there
Everything was real, from the scent of your hair to the
Brown strapped gladiator sandals that you wear
A princess aura, I can feel it in the air
*Sigh*
Dream land is my favorite place
Anything goes I don’t worry about saving face
No embarrassment I control the narrative
You control the camera as our love story takes its shape
The hardest part about filming is the distance, I
Need for the listeners to tell me if I’m tripping or I’m
Isnt, but she is too far when my scene is in the
Bedroom and hers is cooking in the kitchen
An attachment to my soulmate I gave them
Girls up, you are my soul mate, but my
Dream is reality, sleep is the distance, I
Close my eyes wonder when I’m gonna wake to dream again

(Hannah)
I can feel you close
Though you’re so far away
And when I wake up
I think of you everyday
Even the moon, needs the sun to shine
The way my heart needs to know that you’re still mine
